Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) - Tacoma, Washington

 

Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) is a dual service (Army & Air Force) base and is over 400,000 square acres. JBLM is located just south of Tacoma and north of Lacey along the I-5 in the heart of Western Washington’s South Puget Sound region, nestled between Thurston and Peirce counties.

 

Originally established as Camp Lewis in 1917, and later merged with McChord AFB in 2010.  JBLM is the largest Army-ran base in the United States serving over 40,000 service members.

 

There are three major parts of base: Lewis Main, Lewis North and McChord, all have their own gates and all accessible to each other without leaving base.  There are 2 commissaries, 2 exchanges, 9 churches and 7 gyms.
